About Us
Saint Thomas Christian Fellowship is a small non-affiliated Christian community living, worshiping, and serving in proximity to Saint Thomas, PA.
We believe that the Christian life does not stop at personal salvation, but that it continues on as a life of citizenship in God’s kingdom. This kingdom is a nation of people who have been transformed by the Grace of Jesus Christ, their King! It’s citizens are a people who are subject to their King. They love their King more than anything else in the world. They learn to think, act, and conduct themselves according to the example of Jesus, and the laws of His kingdom. True salvation not only frees us from the curse of sin, but empowers us to live lives that are transformed into the image of Christ.
Php 2:5 – 9 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,”
Truly following Jesus is to embrace the mind of Christ. It is to lay down an old nature and take up His new one.
Although many of Jesus’s clear teachings have been marginalized, and pushed away by those on the broad way, the New testament, especially the teachings of our King Jesus, show us what this new nature is like. Jesus said himself that the truth is not going to be popular, but that there would be a few who find it. (Mtt. 7:14).
The sermon on the mount, (Mtt. 5,6, & 7) could be called the constitution of Christ’s Kingdom. Yet sadly, many who give lip service to its preacher will not give heart service to its message.
Did Jesus really mean what he said when He told us:
- To love our enemies? Mtt. 5:44
- To not divorce and remarry? Mtt. 5:32
- To forgive those who harm us? Mtt. 6:14
- To not swear? Mtt. 5:34
- To not collect treasures on this earth Mtt. 6:19
These are just a few..
The apostles further taught us about the Kingdom of God through their epistles to the early Church. Through this we understand that the ways of God’s kingdom will stand out in sharp contrast to the world around us.
Is it true that the New Testament teaches:
- We should collectively embrace accountability, community, and discipleship?
- Men are to take leadership roles in their homes and Churches, being prayer warriors who intend to create healthy homes with which the Church can be strong and edified? 1 Ti 2:8
- Women are to adorn themselves modestly as defined by God, including a head covering which also is a sign to God of her inward submission to the authorities in her life?
1 Cor 11 & 1 Ti 2:9 A life of true righteousness will run counter to ways of world and will bring about opposition & persecution?
2Ti 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
These are just a few..
Being a part of the Kingdom of God and Following its laws is not bondage or legalism; it is the true freedom and fulfillment that every human being longs to experience in his life.
“Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free!”
The rewards of this kingdom are many, but mainly they are the rewards of eternal relationships. Eternal relationships on this earth in the form of a loving caring community of like-minded believers, but most of all an eternal relationship with our King Jesus who is the object of all our affection.
In conclusion:
Saint Thomas Christian Fellowship is simply a group of people who strive to be a part of the Kingdom described in this article. We worship Jesus as the only one who can give us entrance into His kingdom. We lay down this world in exchange for a better country. We press toward the mark.
Php 3:13 Brethren, I could not myself yet to have laid hold: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, I press on toward the goal unto the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
May your life be blessed as you use these resources, discover the Kingdom, and press on to become a part of it yourself..
